Left-Handed Billionaire Portraits

A project aiming to train my non-dominant hand, Left-Handed Billionaire Portraits was born of both necessity and curiosity — an injury made me realise how dependant I am on my right hand and how absurd it is to make so little use of the left one when it’s perfectly functional.

I decided to start a daily practice and needed to focus on a specific topic. It had to fulfil two criteria: be based on photographs and not pure imagination, and be something that I would have no qualms about making ugly.

This is how I chose to draw quick, free-hand portraits of 50 of the world’s richest people, using Forbes’s Real-Time Billionaires list as a source.

The following gallery is a selection showing the progress my left hand made over the course of the project, which spanned three weeks in May and June 2024.
